Frequently Asked Questions
Are these the same as American Red Cross courses?
Our instructors are American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Water Safety, and BLS Instructors and teach the Red Cross curriculum strictly. All certifications awarded are valid for 2 years and issued from the Red Cross within a few days of finishing a course.
What if I fail a prerequisite test for a class?
We strongly recommend testing yourself and preparing for a prerequisite test before buying a class. These prerequisite are mandated by the Red Cross and must be passed to attend the course. You are given three chances total to pass it, your instructor may offer advice on how to improve.
Where are your classes taught?
Our classes vary in location, and the precise address is provided when signing up for a class. If you are signing up for Waterfront Lifeguarding your class will be taught at a lake and you must be comfortable with swimming in open water and accepting all risks that come with it.
What should I bring to class?
If you are attending a water-based class you should bring appropriate swimwear, towels, water, snacks, sunscreen and any required personal equipment listed in the course confirmation email. All major training equipment is provided.
